Hi, I’m Hillary.

I’m a mental health therapist who provides individual therapy, clinical assessments, and group therapy to adults in North Carolina and South Carolina.

A native of North Carolina, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!) with a BA in psychology and returned for my MS in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. While there, I served as the president of the UNC Rehabilitation Counselors Association and as a board member for the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, NC chapter. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and have been working with adults to improve their mental health for more than ten years.

Education & Credentials

I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergraduate and graduate school where I received a B.A. in Psychology and later an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology. I specialized in working with adults with psychiatric disabilities during my graduate studies.

I completed my clinical practicum at the NC Cancer Hospital providing therapy to cancer patients and their family members. Afterwards, I completed my clinical internship with the UNC Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team where I provided in-home individual therapy, substance-abuse counseling, and vocational supports to adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I later served as a faculty member with the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry from 2012 until 2023. While there I worked on the ACT Team for 4 years and was the Team Lead for the UNC Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) Team for 5 years before joining the team of therapists at the UNC STEP Clinic and eventually opening my own private practice, Hillary Little Counseling, PLLC.

My counseling background is working with adults with depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, personality disorders and many additional issues that crop up.

I embrace working with a diverse population and am LGBTQ+-affirming.

I am a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina and fully licensed to provide virtual (video) therapy sessions in South Carolina.
